I'm GAGA for MARK Skateboards!

In my post earlier today, I was planning to share my Uncle’s company with you guys. First, I decided to contact him and see if he was ok with it :) I think you will like the outcome of his response...

Let me begin by telling you a little bit about my Uncle Mark. He is a pretty cool dude, who is married to a pretty legit lady, and they have two beautiful children, Trent and Shanna!! Mark and his family currently live in Austin, Texas and they just visited us for two weeks. It was lovely. Every time they come, I realize just how much I miss them. Anyhow, Mark started a skateboard company in 2010, and I thought it would be cool to share his products with y’all. If you skate, you need to check out his website. If you don’t skate, you need to check out his website. If you have friends that skate, you need to tell them to check out his website. Better yet, don’t just check it out....BUY A SKATEBOARD. Did you get my drift here? I’m tellin ya..........go look at his stuff!

Here are some facts:

MARK Skateboards is located in Austin, Texas, but he can ship your deck wherever you want.

MARK Skateboards was started after Mark’s son, Trent became interested in skating. The reason this fact is so unique to me is because Mark has always loved skating, but Trent was actually the inspiration behind this company! Let me tell you, Mark and Leslie have the two most beautiful kids on the planet!

MARK Skateboards are hand silk-screened in the United States, on the finest laminated North American maple harvested from a sustainable forest. Personally, I think it’s pretty cool that these skateboards aren’t mass produced in another country...but that’s a whole different story.

MARK Skateboards is a 1% for the Planet business. What does this mean? They donate 1% of all profits to environmental causes!! LOVE that!

My favorite statement from the Philosophy section of the MARK Skateboards website is “Of course, in the context of MARK Skateboards, the only marks we really care about are the marks that are going to get scraped all over the bottoms of our decks. Because those marks will mean that someone is having a good time somewhere, getting out and living a little, and leaving marks of their own. We'd like you to leave a mark. Maybe show the path that got you from Point A to Point B, however you define it. And we'd really like it if you shared your stories, and your marks, with us and others. Now stop reading this and go earn a scar.”

Basically, I leave you with this. Scoot your bootie on over to his website, and check out his decks. My favorite ones would have to be Naked and Loud Deaf, but tell me what your favorite is! I am curious!!

HERE’S THE BEST PART! If you type in “bnfunky” when you get to your shopping cart, you will get 25% off of your products! I would say that’s a SWEET DEAL! Now, get off my blog and go show my uncle some love!!!!!

Thank God it's Friday night, and I ju-ju-ju-ju-juuuust got paid!

Happy Friday, y'all!!!! Not gonna lie, I was ready for Friday on Monday this week :)

We left town on Friday to go to Tampa/Sarasota with some dear friends of ours for the Rascal Flatts concert! It was a blast...then the husby and I went onto Miami for a little one night getaway. We had a great time and I love weekends, so I think that's why this week felt a little bit rougher than usual.
Here are few pics from the weekend:

We aren't really sure how this happened, but Joe Don threw his pick at us!

This is my husband and I with some of our awesome friends who took us to Rascal Flatts :)

My favorite picture of the night!

Love them so much! What a good looking bunch!

MY BOO GOT HIS FIRST BIRDIE!!!! I got to keep the ball!!!!

Then....J and I scooted on over to Miami and had some of the best food I've ever tasted. Lots of laughs and fun that night!
Cracked conch

Had to include the double chin/awkward shot for y'all since I was excited to go here :)

Then J and I decided to be daring and spontaneous......and yes, I was still scared to tell my mommy, daddy, and brudda that I did this. Fun times.

On the real, I have wanted a tattoo that says "beloved" on my wrist for quite some time...so this was really special to me since it incorporated something that I've wanted for years, plus Jesus, plus my boo. Josh and I have always had a little saying...1+1=3, for God, Josh, and Brooke so this kind of went with that flow.

Josh's arm :)

With all of that said, I had a really special weekend!

Two last funnies for y'all. This is a pic of my cousin and I a few years back. She is six weeks younger than me, and somehow I was the size of a linebacker and she was the size of a Barbie. Straight sadness!
Lastly, I own this pair of really baggy shorts. When I wear them, they look horrible.....but it tricks me into thinking that I'm so skinny because of how baggy and big they are. Well, I wore them last night. Josh didn't say anything about it...until we got home. Next thing I know, he is proving to me just how BIG my shorts are. Needless to say, I was CRYING laughing. He literally shimmied these shorts up his thighs and buttoned and zipped them all the way up. Ok, I'm burning the shorts. They will never be worn again. Case closed. J is a good sport....little country boy at heart, dontcha think?!

Have a GREAT, BLESSED, AMAZING, UNFORGETTABLE weekend!!!

Vulnerability

Am I the only one that typically dislikes the word “vulnerable?” Let me explain. Typically, I don’t like feeling vulnerable because I tend to associate this word with feeling needy. Did I mention that I don’t like feeling needy? It makes me feel weak. I’ve been thinking a lot about this word lately, and I don’t really know what put it on my heart. Although I don’t really like feeling vulnerable, sometimes I think we are called to put ourselves out there or maybe even allow ourselves to be.........vulnerable. AHHHH!!!!!

Probably the strongest thought that popped in my head the other day was thinking about some of the dumb stuff we allow ourselves to be vulnerable to without even thinking about it. I’ve decided to say “we” so I feel better about myself. Oh, and I’m kind of assuming there’s someone else out there who also has issues. Pahaha! Have you ever felt like you had allowed someone or something have control over you or your emotions and he or she/that “thing” didn’t even know it? Maybe I’m not making sense, but here is a prime example. GIrls, have you ever felt vulnerable toward a guy? Have you ever opened up your heart and trusted someone with your feelings, but it didn’t go the way you intended it to? Maybe you have always been a pretty private person, but there was that one person that you were absolutely crazy over...so you allowed yourself to be vulnerable. Maybe you were lucky or blessed enough for him to reciprocate...but maybe he didn’t feel the same way about you. That hurts, doesn't it? I can remember this happening a couple times in my life before I got married.

The reason I am sharing this with y’all is because relationships and friendships tend to be some of the biggest elements in our lives that we allow ourselves to become vulnerable to. Have you ever thought about guarding your heart, but allowing yourself to be vulnerable to your Creator instead? What I’ve found is that it is so easy to make ourselves vulnerable even in a friendship with someone...but yet we can’t let ourselves be vulnerable to God. Have you considered what God CAN AND WILL DO when YOU finally decide to allow Him to? I wonder sometimes why this can be something that is so challenging to do. Maybe it’s because it involves complete surrender and admitting that we can’t do it on our own. Maybe it’s because sometimes it’s hard to admit that we are weak and we don’t have it all together. Maybe it’s because we have simply never thought about it. Well, I just encourage you...whatever the reason is...to let it go and let yourself be vulnerable with God. Can you make the decision to take the challenge today and trust Him? I’m talking really give up EVERYTHING to him: your thoughts, emotions, friendships, family, job, school, hobbies, the whole nine. If you are wondering where in the world to begin, just start praying. Tell God that you have no clue what to do and that you need help. Praise Him and thank Him for all of the blessings in your life. Thank Him for the bad things in your life. List a few of the bad things, and then list the GOOD that came out EACH situation. Most likely, something good DID come out of every scenario. I’m not saying that you didn’t go through some pain or some hard times, but I can promise you...either you were blessed in some way or someone was touched and blessed by what you went through and how you acted during the situation. God promises us in Romans 8:28 that in “ALL THINGS, He works for the GOOD of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” That’s not some things, people. That’s ALL things. The good, the bad, and the ugly. I’ll stop harping. If you ever have any questions about where to begin or just need someone to talk to or pray with you, let me know. I’d be honored to lend an ear, a prayer, and a helping hand.

Have a great day!

Grey & Yellow Inspiration

Lately, I have been obsessed with the whole grey, yellow, and black theme for bedrooms! Our bedroom currently has this look, but the walls aren't the exact grey that I want. We are in the process of selling our townhome, so I am hoping that I am going to achieve what I'm looking for when we move!!! What do y'all think? I just created this real quick with a few items that I actually already have and a few ideas that I'm thinking I would like to incorporate in our future master bedroom!

PS-Anyone know if you're supposed to spell it grey or gray? Hahahaha...whoops!
